Store-bought puff pastry dough lets you create loads of fast and easy recipes, not just savoury pies, but also fun-to-make treats that will make you want to have friends over every night!
The Recipe:
Bring the tomato sauce to a simmer in a pan with a drizzle of oil and perhaps a bit of peperoncino. Let it reduce; you may want to add a cup of water. When the sauce is reduced, turn off the heat and allow to cool. Meanwhile, cut the mozzarella into small pieces and also cube the Salame Milano Classico. Then heat the convection oven to 180°.
Roll out the puff pastry on a floured work surface with a rolling pin. Spread the tomato sauce, using a spoon or pastry brush, over half the dough, scatter on the mozzarella and salami cubes and then fold over the undressed half of the dough. Press down on the dough with your hands, then cut it into strips. Seal the edges with your fingers and twist each strip around itself.
Brush each strip with olive oil and arrange the breadsticks on kitchen parchment lining a baking sheet. Follow the same procedure with the second roll of puff pastry. Bake for 15-20 minutes. As soon as the breadsticks are golden brown, they are ready to serve. Let them cool a bit before taking them to the table.
